In 2016, Vice UK asked his readers what they were most frightened of. Never finding love came in first position, in front of the fear of dying, or of not finding a job. The omnipresence of the theme of Love in mainstream culture is at the source of an immense business. The most glaring examples of which are the marriage market, pornography and dating sites.
For a course on the Mythologies of Roland Barthes, I chose to destroy the myth of love. More than 200 images of kisses from films, paintings, but also the most emblematic lyrics of sentimental music are gathered in this book that is destined to be destroyed. To get to the end of the book, the reader must tear off each page revealing a dollar bill on the back.
